Catapult provides a plug-in module that can be added to your shipping system. Your customers will be able to obtain both air and ocean international shipping rates instantly through our network of forwarders, consolidators, and carriers. The program will allow the customer to get rates and book the shipment, which will transfer the necessary data to both the carrier awarded and customer as a shipment pick-up confirmation. The carrier then contacts the customer to verify information and schedule a pickup date/time. Customer specific rates can be input into the system for an additional fee.
How does this work?
The technology we are using is called SOAP-RPC. SOAP is the protocol being used to deliver the message. RPC stands for remote procedure call. Our clients will be using the SOAP protocol to remotely call the get quotes procedure which will return an EDI/XML document full of quotes that is wrapped inside of a SOAP envelope. So, in essence, our servers talk to each other to get the information needed to produce international shipping quotes.
This will allow any web server on any platform to ask our server for rates. |
