Catapult employs the latest technology tools that make its software sleek and agile. A SQL based system, it also uses a structure called SOA (service oriented architecture). SOA represents a major shift in the software industry. Prior to SOA (also known as Software as a Service (SaaS) all that existed is big enterprise suites with a one size fits all mentality. The suites would include everything a user could possibly ever want. Because of this, these software giants would not do customization to their software because they felt that the functionality you needed was already included. This lead to customers being stuck with giant software packages that have 5000 functions they don’t even use. The software becomes big, cumbersome, and hard to use.
Service oriented architecture is all about solving specific needs. It is a very light and easy to use software system. Every client has their software customized and built to their exact needs so there are no functions that they wouldn’t use. SOA is accomplished through Web 2.0, .NET technology, AJAX, and other web technologies. Because of the way SOA works, it is very easy and less expensive to further customize an application. This leads to clients getting exactly what they want and need and a much cheaper price than the older software model. |
