Catapult Adds Free Time Data

Lenexa, Kansas, June 21, 2016: Catapult, a Mercator company, today announced technology advancements to its rate and contract management platform, Catapult QMS®, with the addition of free time data from ocean carriers.

Catapult’s customers are now able to view free time data from over 21 ocean carriers’ tariffs, covering the major trade lanes and ports. The increased levels of visibility include origin and destination detention and demurrage charges, indicating the period of time that the port and ocean carrier allow a party to hold a container.

“The introduction of the additional dataset will enable our customers make better-informed decisions on carrier selection. With the availability of free time data, we ensure that data intelligence value is realized by comparing against rate and transit times – making routing optimization as seamless and cost effective as possible.” commented Matt Motsick, CEO of Catapult.

Chris Mraz, Senior Business Unit Manager of TSC Container Freight added, “It’s difficult to find demurrage and detention information from ocean carriers. Catapult provides enhanced transparency in displaying the number of days allowed, plus the charges that could apply if a container is not returned in time.”

Catapult offers both free time information from carriers’ tariffs as well as from customers’ own negotiated ocean service contracts.
